My Work

My writing has evolved over the past 20 years, growing from web copy for a university to technical writing to all forms of content for B2B and B2C. What hasn't changed is my deep love of the written word and its many uses in evoking emotion, provoking thought, and prompting action in people.

Here you'll find a small portfolio of my recent writing across various verticals.

Sell More Houses with Fast and Beautiful Images

July 2022

According to one study, real estate listings with more than 20 photos and videos sell 32% faster than those with fewer. Images are crucial to getting your listings noticed. But adding 20+ high-quality, enormous images to each page of your site will slow your PageSpeed (and cause your SEO to take a hit). Since 13% of visitors will bounce if a page takes 3 seconds or longer to load (and the percentages go up sharply from there!), you want to keep your pages fast. This is particularly true since over 55% of your buyers will view real estate images on smartphones using mobile networks prone to latency.

Using some handy solutions and following housekeeping rules, you can continue adding beautiful images to your listings. These solutions keep your site attractive, fast, and ranking well on search engines!

Builders are Essential – And That's Good for Everyone!

April 2020

Is your house starting to feel like it’s shrinking? Is working from home from your dining room table starting to get to you? Is taking the dog for walks around the same old streets getting to be a drag? We understand – we’re feeling it too! Here at Two Rivers, we’ve changed a lot of things about how we’re conducting business, for everyone’s safety, so that we can continue to provide gorgeous, spacious homes for our customers.

In Maryland, builders and the building supply chain have been deemed essential, which allows builders at Two Rivers the ability to continue providing safe, healthy housing that is very much needed. As Clark Ellis, Principal & Cofounder of the Continuum Advisory Group, says, our “most fundamental need is for shelter, our homes.”

The Importance of an Energy Efficient Home

May 2021

According to the EPA, buildings account for 39% of the total energy use in the US. Homes are 54% of building use, or 21% of the total energy used in the US. That means one-fifth of all energy used in the US comes from our homes, and we as homeowners are directly paying for that use.

We as home builders care about your pocketbook too. We want your home to be a place that benefits you for years and years to come. A place you never regret and always enjoy. And a place that helps you and your environment at the same time.

The Only SEO Guide a Small Business Needs

May 2022

Some people get nervous when you bring up SEO.

They know it’s something they need to work on – maybe they installed that free plug-in, read a guide once or watched a YouTube video – but they’re not sure where to start. From the way some blogs go on, there’s arcane magic involved in “beating the algorithm” or something!

In reality, there are some things that every person with a website can do to increase their relevance and loading speed and give a boost to their SEO. This guide will walk you through them step-by-step, with helpful tips. Many SEO Guides have been created, but we think ours is both the simplest to follow and the most complete, especially for a small business or blogger who doesn’t have a team of minions waiting in the wings.
